Open Adoption Networking

Many adoptive parents have successfully found birthparents through networking. At first this can seem overwhelming to adoptive families. However, we have put together a list of some things that you can do that are easy and inexpensive.

This is the first thing that I recommend you do. This will serve as a tool for the other networking options. If you have the time and skills, you may do this yourself. Otherwise, can create your website for you. You may either email or snail mail your adoption letter and pictures to me. You may either mail a cashier's check or use PayPal to make your payment. Here are detailed instructions to have an adoption website created. If you create your own website, here are some tips:
  • Size your graphics so they load fast.
  • Use backgrounds and colors that make your site easy to read.
  • Make sure your pictures are close-up and clear.
  • Be careful of free hosting companies. If your site loads very slowly, this may be the reason.
  • Use media and graphics wisely. While it may look and sound cool, if it takes forever to load, visitors may leave before even seeing it.
